FOLLOW-UP BIBLE STUDIES

IX. CORRECTING ONE ANOTHER

Objectives:

1. To emphasize need for correction.

2. To inform the Christian how to resolve conflicts within the body.

A. Hebrews 3:12-13

If you are to see to it that no one has a sinful heart, then you will need at times to correct others.

B. I Timothy 5:1-2 / II Timothy 3:16-4:2

1. Correction should not be harsh.

2. Correction should involve the use of Scripture.

3. Correction should be done with great patience and

careful instruction.

C. Ephesians 4:25-32 / James 4:11-12

1. Correction should be done from right motives.

2. Do not use the opportunity to tear down the other

person.

3. If you enjoy correcting others, it is probably from

wrong motivation.

D. Matthew 5:23-24 / Matthew 18:15-20

1. It is urgent that conflicts be resolved.

2. Don't wait for the other person to take the initia-

tive regardless of who is at fault.

3. What is the pattern f or correction you see in Matthew

18:15-20?

E. It is also important that you be willing to accept correction. read and discuss the following Proverbs.

1. Proverbs 12:1

2. Proverbs 12:15

3. Proverbs 13:10

4. Proverbs 13:13

5. Proverbs 13:18

F. While it is important to accept correction, you should ' be careful to evaluate all correction and advice in light of Scripture.
